Al Gergawi is the first personality from the Gulf region to co-chair the India Economic Summit and has been chosen because of his active role as the Executive Chairman of Dubai Holding and his efforts in expanding the group's operations and establishing its projects around the world; besides his role as the head of DDIA which works on catalyzing the economic and investment climate of UAE and Dubai in particular.

Al Gergawi said that it is an honour to be nominated to participate in such an important Summit in India. He said that the emergence of India as a global economic power has become a compelling story worldwide.

He shall lead a high-level delegation from the Dubai Holding and DDIA to the Delhi Summit, which will be held from November 27th to 29th 2005.

Al Gergawi pointed that the co-chair nomination reflected the importance with which a resurgent India is focusing on the Arab world and on the United Arab Emirates and Dubai, in particular.

Al Gergawi said that India and UAE are next door neighbours and their cultures and economies have been interlinked by centuries of trade and commerce and cultural exchange, and share a high degree of affinity and proximity with each other that only few nations enjoy.
