Deployed in such a manner that all communication applications are centralised but yet distributed throughout the enterprise using a robust architecture, the IP Telephony network will integrate seamlessly with the existing legacy network to provide a comprehensive communication solution for DOHMS.
According to Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, General Manager, eCompany,
"The fact that DOHMS has awarded this contract to eCompany and Avaya is a testimony to the winning combination of project management skill sets and technology provided by both partners in providing a comprehensive and sophisticated converged communication solution. It's also a vindication of the company's approach towards being a comprehensive solution provider for enterprise customers in the UAE."
"We are extremely pleased at winning this significant contract from DOHMS along with our valued partner Avaya," said Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz, Executive Manager, Enterprise Customers for eCompany. "Today's corporate customers are ready to embrace a new era of communication; the implementation of this solution will lead to improved efficiency and enhanced mobility for all users by providing access to communication from any location. Moreover, it will reduce the overall system management costs for DOHMS."
The comprehensive solution implemented at DOHMS comprises Avaya Media Server with Communication Manager Call Center Software, Avaya Media Gateway, Avaya Call Management Systems, an Avaya-hosted unified messaging solution and Avaya IP agent, a PC-based softphone application for improving productivity.
Many hospital administrators are turning to Avaya's centralized, IP-based speech applications to resolve problems quickly and make a positive impact on patient care. For example, if there is an issue in the Intensive Care Unit, a conference can be quickly convened with the head nurse, physician and the patient's family - all by using speech-driven commands.
"As healthcare costs across the region continue to rise, hospitals across the Middle East are seeking new ways to reduce expenses while delivering improved patient care," said Nidal Abou-Ltaif, managing director for Avaya in the Middle East and North Africa.
"Healthcare is an information intensive field which requires a communications infrastructure of the highest standard. Such an infrastructure could literally make the difference between life and death," concluded Abou-Ltaif.
