- PRESS RELEASE
Batelco, a vibrant member in the International Telecommunication Union, is hosting the Global Symposium on 'Developing ICT Resources for Strategic Advantage'.
The goal of the meeting is to achieve a society where all persons - without distinction - are empowered freely to create, receive, share and utilise information and knowledge for their economic, social, cultural and political development.
"Batelco, keen on such aspects and a key player in boosting the national economy, found it a feasible opportunity to host the symposium and further boost its capabilities through the knowledge of international experts in this field," says Peter Kaliaroupolos, Batelco's Chief Executive.
"Batelco works closely with international telecom operators to achieve its aspired goals and objectives in serving the Bahraini community and pushing forward the wheels of economic development in the Kingdom," he elaborates.
The general aim of this Symposium is to discuss developing human resources within the ICT Society through:
1. Performance Improvement: maximising people performance, performance management review, measuring HR performance.
2. Impact of Competition on Human Resources: succession planning and competency mapping, role of HRD in a competitive environment, role of training and development in an organisation's survival, brand enjoyment programme.
3. Talent development: future competencies for HRD, assessment and development centre, how to develop the human resources for the various facets of the ICT sector.
4. E-Learning: how to create the right environment for e-learning, virtual training and development.
Each day of the programme will focus on one of these themes, scheduling presentations and working groups, and allowing the participants to reflect and discuss the topics they themselves consider priorities. The participants will also have the opportunity to discuss, define work plans and coordinate potential collaboration.
This is a global meeting and it is therefore expected that the presentations and subsequent working group discussions be of a high and varied level, sharing concerns at the very heart of development of appropriate ICT resources for strategic advantage.
