Al Isra University Arabizes international accounting software curriculum
- Jordan: Wednesday, July 10 - 2002 at 10:26
- PRESS RELEASE
While more than 500 business and finance students at the Jordanian Al Isra University, had, for the last year, access to hands-on practical accounting and finance education on ACCPAC software, they are set today to optimize their learning experience now that the university has completed the Arabization of ACCPAC accounting and finance guide.
Earlier in May 2001, ACCPAC, the leading end-to-end e-business solution provider and CATS, ACCPAC's partner in Jordan, jointly donated the university educational software licenses to learn on ACCPAC accounting and finance applications. Professors at the university have been teaching on ACCPAC English guide.
Yahia Beasha, General Manager of CATS commented: "When students graduate with skills developed enough for them to work in a multi-lingual environment, this creates a competitive edge for Jordan's workforce not only in Jordan, but in the entire region."
Dr. Durra continues: "This translation is in line with the university's belief in the necessity of developing the practical skills of its students to meet the needs of the information technology era that we live in today." Dr. Mahmoud Omar Tabari, trained by CATS, initiated the project and headed its implementation. He commented saying:"Along with the hands-on benefits that my students are getting from being trained on ACCPAC, the Arabized guide is going to bridge the gap that graduating students might face upon touching base with the employment market."
ACCPAC's donation is part of the company's global strategy, to focus and invest in education. According to the company's regional manager, Marc Van Der Ven, every Canadian accountant knows ACCPAC before graduating and ACCPAC is taught at universities and colleges around the world. He said: "While our donation to Al Isra was the first of its kind to be announced with our partners in the Middle East, the translation of the guide marks another precedence. We congratulate the management of Al Isra' university for its thinking and efforts to build an efficient workforce for the region."
