President and CEO Samer Majali said:
"International Aero Engines are among the most advanced and powerful engines internationally. RJ will use these engines to power four Airbus 320s and two Airbus 321s operating on short-haul routes."
He added that the high technical performance of the engines, their low overall cost of ownership and their lower fuel cosumption will play a considerable role in the current renewal program and services the airline offers its passengers.
IAE Senior Vice President Customer Business Bob Keady said: "We are very proud and delighted that Royal Jordanian Airline is introducing its first V2500-powered aircraft at such an important time as the start of its fleet renewal program."
He added that IAE aspires to establish a long-term relationship with RJ, which is a pioneering air carrier in the Middle East, and through it to gain the trust of the big international airlines that are part of oneworld global airline alliance.
The delivery of an Airbus 320 at the end of this month will mark the onset of the process of renewing the fleet, which includes six modern Airbus airplanes.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney (NYSE:UTX), Rolls Royce (RR.L.), the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. More than 1,300 V2500-powrered aircraft have been delivered and the worldwide fleet has accumulated over 33 million flying hours.
