Global analyst IDC indicates a surge in demand for PCs in the region, particularly within the government administration and education sectors. Senior management at Acer feel there is every opportunity to replicate the success the company has enjoyed in the rest of the Middle East.

"Acer is planning significant investment in the Lebanese market, starting with the forthcoming Termium ICT (information and communication technology) conference in Beirut," commented Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

"By revitalizing our integration with the sales channel in the region, we expect a significant upsurge in sales, as Lebanon and other countries in the Levant continue to modernize economic infrastructure."

Visitors to Acer's Termium stand at the exhibition will be able to see at first hand the company's innovative portfolio of business and consumer products which have led to the astounding success that Acer has enjoyed in the Middle East over the last twelve months. Acer is now the region's No.1 laptop vendor and the 3rd highest desktop PC vendor. The company is also making impressive gains in the visual display market - LCD monitors, Gaming-Line monitors, LCD TVs and projectors.

As well as Acer's impressive range of PDAs, 8 Megapixel digital cameras, peripherals and e-business solutions for business, government, education and home users, Acer will also be showcasing the company's new Altos G5350 server. Aimed at small and midsize enterprises (SMEs), the AMD 64-bit, dual-core platform server allows high processing power and expandability at a lower cost.

"An increasing number of decision makers in the Levant are aware of the business advantages that can be gained from investing in the right technology. Acer will meet the needs of this community based on our commitment to releasing fresh technology on a first-to-market basis," continued Ashkar.

The company's latest commercial desktop range, the Acer Veriton x800 series, will also be on display at Termium. The Veriton 2800, for instance, is a prime example of the Acer philosophy, founded on the opinion that innovative design, advanced technology and affordability can go hand-in-hand.

A high-performance model which comes equipped with the latest Intel Pentium 4 processors and a cutting-edge Intel 915G chipset, the Veriton 2800 not only promises increased productivity, but also helps to increase workplace efficiency thanks to its ultra-slim, space-saving casing.

"The Veriton 2800 is the ideal desktop solution for the small office or home (SOHO), and reaffirms Acer's commitment to putting the customer first, said Ashkar. "Acer does this by developing and providing solutions tailored to suit the end-user's specific requirements, as well as by reducing total cost of ownership (TCO)."

Termium takes place from 29 November to 4 December 2005.
