In a cooking performance test designed and conducted by LGA QualiTest Gmbh, the respected German product certification institute, SolarDOM scored 'Good' on a five-point scale ranging form 'Very Poor' to 'Very Good'. All other conventional ovens were rated as 'Satisfactory' and 'Poor' in the test.
The evaluation was based on a number of performance indicators, including pre-heating, deviation and variation of hot air, baking, roasting and grilling. SolarDOM achieved the highest performance ratings for all ovens and microwaves tested for baking, roasting and grilling.
"As a home appliance maker, we focus on improving people's lives with convenient products. LG's breakthrough technology will soon make buying both a conventional oven and microwave a thing of the past,"
said K H. Kim, President, LG Electronics Middle East and Africa.
"The SolarDOM is a next generation cooking appliance and it will create a new kitchen lifestyle. Instead of purchasing a conventional oven and microwave, consumers need only the SolarDOM."
The compact SolarDOM is four times faster than a conventional oven and can be heated up to 320 degrees celcius (608 degrees F) in only five minutes. The oven uses a Mega Heater System which utilises light waves created by a combination of different types of heaters, mainly Halogen, Sheath and Ceramic. The fusion of heaters and different depths of heat ensure even, high-quality and speedy cooking.
The light wave oven is easy to use and sports the Smart Guide Display which highlights function icons on a colour LCD panel. The SolarDOM is also easy to clean.
The SolarDOM won the iF Design Award for its design and user-friendly interface. The award attracts no less than 1,800 entries annually from over 30 countries.
LG is the market leader in the home appliance segment in the Middle East and Africa. Last year, digital appliance sales accounted for US$832 million, while home electronics sales reached US$785 million.
