GCC officials came to the decision to extend insurance indemnity plans for GCC Citizens working in the public or private sectors within the GCC countries during the 25th Gulf Summit that took place in Manama and will be implemented starting January 2006. The plan aims at attaining a complete social security plan that will cover the GCC Citizens in his country of residence.

The unified system, to be implemented early next year, requires that every employer and employee accept their shares from memberships, in accordance with the percentage used in the system of the employee's country of origin. The shares of the employer shouldn't exceed that which is used in the country where the business is running. In cases where the employer's shares are less than what is required, the employee should make up for difference in order to guarantee that the memberships are fully paid to the social security and pension institutions. There will be cases, however, where the state might bare the difference on behalf of the employees.
