A stand-out feature of the latest product from Western Digital is the exclusive WhisperDrive technology with SoftSeek algorithms, making it the quietest 2.5-inch drive on the market. The product is also equipped with real-time data protection technology to ensure total safety of data and comes in three storage capacities of 40 GB, 60 GB and 80 GB.
The hard drive spins at 5400 RPM for fast performance and its low power consumption yields increased reliability. WD Scorpio also has a rigid stainless steel top cover that withstands more than five pounds of pressure to protect vital internal components of the product.
"With the WD Scorpio hard drive, Western Digital has succeeded in offering optimum performance levels, while ensuring low power consumption, making it ideally suited for the Middle East markets,"
said Hafeez Khawaja, WD's Senior Regional Director, Middle East, Africa, South Asia. "Another attraction for the customers will be the noiseless operation of the product, despite the 5400 RPM it offers."
"Durability, reliability and data protection are the most important attributes that customers look for when choosing hard drives for their portable devices, and the WD Scorpio offers all these features. Further, the steady increase of the mobile workforce in the Middle East in recent months, presents an excellent market for this product in the region," added Khawaja.
The Shock Guard technology in the WD Scorpio protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks, meeting the highest shock tolerance specifications of 250 Gs while in operation and 900 Gs when idle. The DuraStep Ramp in the hard drive locks the heads in a secure position away from the disk to provide another layer of protection when the drive is not in use. Moreover, the drive can perform a minimum of 600,000 load/unload cycles without contamination, as it uses the most technologically advanced material available.
