"The seminar is part of the overall strategy of EIDA, which aims to familiarize the public with who we are and the importance of these two new programs we are introducing. This briefing seminar is dedicated to the needs of business, which is considered a corner stone in the UAE's economy,"said Dr. Saeed Bin Rakan Al Dhaheri, Director General of EIDA.
"Our project is the largest of its kind in the Middle East. It includes the establishment of an advanced Population Register as an accurate and complete data base of the population through the issuance of new National ID Cards for all UAE citizens and residents who are over 15 years old. The project is scheduled for completion within three years," he added.
Seminar participants will learn about the latest developments in the logistic infra-structure of the Authority. They will also be introduced to the registration procedures, potential uses of the National ID Card and its smart card applications. These applications are particularly relevant to the business environment as well as providing enhanced information for government to facilitate planning and decision making.
EIDA is responsible for introducing a modern public registration and ID system, which will provide a safe environment for citizens and expatriates in the UAE. It will further keep their identities secured from fraud, supports governmental services and publication plans, enhances the economic growth and places the UAE in the front ranks of the information age.
