Great response for the UAE Trade Exhibition in Libya 2005

The UAE Trade exhibition in Libya has achieved a great response in the Libyan Capital, Tripoli, during the first and second day of the exhibition.

A number of commercial representatives, businessmen and investors in Libya attended the exhibition. The exhibition is being held at the Tripoli World Trade Centre and will continue until the 30th of November 2005.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al-Mutawi, Director General of the of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said at the exhibition that Libya enjoys many economical potentialities, stressing that the Libyan Market is still young and has many opportunities to attract capitals and investments.

The main reason behind this exhibition is to convey the DCCI's keenness in developing strategies and policies to support its members and increasing their chances for industrial and commercial activities, besides strengthening the economic tide and developing scopes of cooperation between the UAE and Libya.

Mr. Mutawi pointed out that the number of the certificates of origin issued by the DCCI for commodities sent to Libya reached 10,176 from January to mid November 2005, worth about AED 1 billion and AED 747 million for 475 companies in Dubai which are involved in different types of economic and commercial activities.

The volume of non-oil trade between Dubai and Libya has been doubled during the last few years reaching round AED 536 million (US Dollar 418 million) in 2004, while the imports from Libya to Dubai was estimated at AED 281 million and the trade volume of re -export to AED 207 million in the same year. However, the total volume of the commercial exchange of non oil trade in 2000 reached AED 475 million (US Dollar 129 millions), divided to AED 1.4 million as imports and AED 26.6 million as exports and AED 447 million (US Dollar 121 million) as re-exports.

This exhibition is targeting commercial and trade representatives, purchasing departments at the governmental institutions in Libya, Libyan ministries representatives, in addition to businessmen, investors and foreign companies operating in Libya.

Mr. Jameel Al Shamsi, Exhibitions Supervisor at DCCI, stated that the Chamber is participating in the exhibition in a joint pavilion with Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority Jafza). He also said that the DCCI pavilion receives many inquiries about the services provided by DCCI to its members and facilities given by the DCCI to businessmen and foreign investors.

The UAE Trade Exhibition in Libya is considered a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and specialists in different commercial sectors to communicate with the Libyan market through their counterparts in Libya. The exhibition hosts different companies in economic sectors like banking, health centers, auto spare parts, plastic products and minerals, electronics, food commodities, plastic industries, information technologies, communication and others.
