Al Mutaiwee visits Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Mr. Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), yesterday visited the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as a side activity of the UAE Trade Exhibition in Libya 2005 which runs till December 2.
Al Mutaiwee highlighted the goals planned by DCCI through participating in the exhibition which hosts a large number of public and private sector establishments. He said the exhibition is a significant investment base to launch many joint ventures, in addition to the availability of variable investment opportunities in Libya which need to be considered. Al Mutaiwee showed the DCCI's readiness to exchange expertise and knowledge with the Tripoli Chamber.
Mr. Kanon welcomed Al Mutaiwee stressing the Libyan government's interest to cooperate with the DCCI. He said there are many Libyan investments in the UAE and the exhibition provides a chance to exploit the available opportunities.
"We stress our intention to strengthen the economic and trade relations between our establishments and companies and their counterparts in Dubai and the UAE. We also encourage Arab investment in different fields of business benefiting from the vast opportunities available in Libya," said Kanon adding that the exhibition is a chance to enhance economic cooperation with the GCC countries which enjoy trade and industrial development.
Mr. Kanon talked about the Libyan government's policy in allocating a number of banks which would contribute in opening channels for wider investments and more competitiveness. He noted that membership at Tripoli Chamber is mandatory. He invited the Chairman of DCCI to visit Libya with a delegation of businessmen to be introduced to the available investment opportunities in the country.
Al Mutaiwee pointed out that the number of the DCCI's members exceeded 72,000 who are involved in different sorts of trade and industrial businesses, except for professional men. He added that the DCCI caters for three branches in Al Aweer, Jebel Ali and Dubai International Airport, in addition to another office at the Department of Economic Development (DED).
He said that the Chamber also supports the business groups which operate under the umbrella of the DCCI, serving most economic sectors such as car rental groups, travel and tourism groups and others. Al Mutaiwee said that the Chamber also hosts the Dubai University College which receives more than 1,200 students.
Al Mutaiwee invited Mr. Mohammed Hussain Kanon, Chairman of the Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, to visit the exhibition.
