Bin Sulayem discusses bilateral issues with Indian delegation

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, met with the members of an Indian delegation led by Mr. Arvinder Singh Lovely, Minister of Tourism, Government of Delhi, at the DTCM Head Office today.

They discussed bilateral issues and ways of enhancing cooperation between the UAE and India in general and Dubai and Delhi in particular, especially in the tourism sector. Mr. bin Sulayem highlighted some of Dubai's latest projects and its boom in the real estate and hospitality sectors.

The Indian minister was accompanied by the Consul General of India in Dubai, Mr. Yash Sinha, Mr. Ramesh Negi, Managing Director, Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation, and Mr. Prakash Jajoria, Regional Director (West Asia), Government of India Regional Tourist Office in Dubai

Dubai and Delhi have enjoyed a tradition of extensive cultural and trade cooperation. In 2004, there was a 7.5 per cent increase in the total number of hotel guests from India when compared with the 2003 figures.

The total number of Indian companies in Dubai increased from 252 in 2003 to 518 in 2004. Tour operators featuring Dubai in their itineraries in Indian rose to 720 in 2004 from 635 in 2003.
