GCAA announces the completion of an Aircraft Maintenance Systems Course in Dubai

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announces the completion of an Aircraft Maintenance Systems Course conducted in Dubai from Nov 26-30 2005.

This course is part of an on-going series of courses presented under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Airbus, the European Academy for Aviation Safety (EAFAS) and the GCAA which brings vital aviation safety training to the region.

The actual presentation of the Aircraft Maintenance Systems Requirements Course was conducted by Mrs. Muriel Nomura, an Aviation Consultant and Lecturer from Airbus-France and Mr. Enrique Sanmarti from Spain.

The course content focused on Aircraft Maintenance Organization Approval requirements; continuing airworthiness; and the requirements for certifying staff Maintenance-Training Organizations as specified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) which regulates the European Union. The GCAA is a leading proponent of harmonizing civil aviation regulations in the Gulf States and is adopting the European requirements, as far as possible; to ensure aircraft maintenance systems are correctly conducted for the overall safety of the flying public.

This course was attended by 13 participants from a broad civil aviation spectrum including Omani Directorate General of civil Aviation and Metrology (DGCAM), Bahrain Aircraft Services (BAS), Jet Aviation, EXCU JET Middle East, Al Rais Cargo, Red Star, AVE.COM as well as GCAA Airworthiness Inspectors.

H.E Mohammed Ghanim Al Ghaith, the Director General of the GCAA, stated, "It is courses such as this that will assist the region's desire to harmonize the rules to ensure that safety on aircraft maintenance is done to the latest standards and best practices for the overall safety of the flying public. The GCAA intends to continue to host a series of aviation safety training courses in the UAE and invite industry, operators and Civil Aviation Authorities within the region to participate. Aviation safety is our number one goal".
