Under the Patronage of H.H. Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group, and support from Dubai Duty Free and Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA), H.E Obeid Humeid Al-Tayer, Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) inaugurated this morning the "Middle East Exclusive," the 3rd Duty Free, Travel Retail and Luxury Product Exhibition in the region, on between 6-8th December 2005 at Sheikh Rashid Hall of the internationally renowned Dubai World Trade Center.
Al-Tayer was accompanied by Mr. Colm McLoughlin, President of MEDFA and Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free. Al-Tayer praised the organizers for having successfully held the exhibition, expressed his admiration towards the style adopted by the exhibitors for visually showcasing their products.
The participating companies will showcase a large collection of products representing internationally reputed brands including duty free products, travel retail, and luxury products that involve audio equipment, cameras, electronics, telephones, watches and clocks, writing instruments, cigars and tobacco, cigarettes, confectionery, destination products, fashion and fashion accessories, cosmetics and fragrances, jewelry, leather goods, luggage, sportswear, sunglasses, fine wines, beer and liquor, gourmet foods, gifts and giftware, tableware, toys, etc.
Visiting "Middle East Exclusive 2005" is a Must due to the extensive participation of leading companies in this aspect, showcasing their latest luxury products that stand for world's celebrated brands for key buyers and decision makers responsible for duty free and travel retailing, department stores, shopping malls, boutiques, leading hotels, airports, airlines, cruise lines...etc. in this most dynamic and lucrative business region.
The Middle East currently accounts for around 4% of $20 billion global duty free business and analysts predict that duty free sales in the region will grow by about 80% in the next decade. The average shopper's spending at Dubai Airport is $45 representing three times that of world's most prominent duty frees.
Dubai Duty Free sales are expected to make $600 million in the year 2006 rising 18%, compared to that of last year where luxury goods dominate 49.5% of its sales, which stresses the exhibition's importance for the region's markets according to the organizers. The duty free in the Middle East attained 30.6% growth in the year 2004 to lead the world in this sector where this region's markets represent 10% of the total world's markets. This region really broke a record compared to a decade ago.
Middle East airports currently invest around $10 billion in developing and broadening their infrastructures to be fully prepared to receiving a growing number of travelers, which are expected to be 20% annually, according to specialists. The regional airport markets and duty free sectors are expected to totally grow at 14.9% annually over the next five years that constitute three times of international growths in this sector.
