ENOC to hold Environment, Health and Safety Conference

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) today announced it is set to hold its second Regional Environment, Health and Safety Conference in Dubai.

The conference, organised by ENOC's Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Department, will take place on Wednesday 7th December and 200 people are expected to attend.

This year's annual conference will focus on Training and Development in Safety, with particular emphasis on competency based systems and fire safety engineering. The first paper will be presented by the Group EHSQ Compliance Manager, Eng. Waddah Ghanem on the ENOC training and development of EHS professionals.

The main sponsor for the conference will be the Fire Safety Engineering College in the Sultanate of Oman. During the conference Dr. Modafar Ati, B.Sc (Eng) PhD, Assistant Dean for the College, Higher Education, will be giving a paper on the Evolution of Fire Safety Engineering and its Training Application. Mr. Paul Daly, Assistant Dean and Head of Vocational Training and Chief Fire Officer will be presenting a paper on Vocational Competence an Integrated Personal Development System which was developed for the British Fire Service.

Mr. S. Ramasami, Education Director of the Institute of Fire Engineers, will be giving a short presentation on the Institution's drive towards continuing professional education in the field of fire and safety engineering.

Other papers are to be presented by Dr. Buqufell, Training and Development Manager, EMARAT on the enhancement of the training process and by ADCO's Yahya Al Marzooqi, Training and Development Manager, on behalf of ADNOC on the Competence Assurance Management System (CAMS) used by the ADNOC Group of Companies. Kurt Gerber, the Regional HSE Manager (EPM-S-HSE), Middle East, Russia and CIS, Shell Exploration and Production International Ltd will be presenting a paper on Competence Assurance of HSSE Critical Positions.

The Regional Manager, Barry Bell, of Wagner Fire Safety Consultants will be delivering a paper on the development of the Fire Engineer with an insight into this new engineering discipline and the opportunities for employment in this important field of work.

ENOC has invited many different professionals from industry to this safety conference that has a primary focus on fire and safety engineering but also has various papers which focus on the training and development of professionals.
