"The days spent in Hong Kong and Tokyo were the best 11 days of my life," said Salman Sultan. "We had a great mix of students from various nationalities who enjoyed every bit of the trip," said Carol Houser, Director of Community Relations, who organized the study tour.

Before leaving for the trip, the Japanese Ambassador to the UAE had invited the group to his residence where the students met with top Japanese business entities in this region. Some of the businessmen gave a brief presentation about the Japanese economy and culture.

This was followed by traditional Japanese food. Prior to the trip, students also visited Nissan Middle East FZE, HSBC and Mitsubishi, where the officials organized presentations about their respective companies.

Hong Kong Disneyland

The students started the trip in Hong Kong. During the four days there they met with HSBC and the management of Hong Kong Disneyland, who were delighted to brief the students about the whole project and gave free tickets to everyone to spend the day there.

After an exciting tour of Hong Kong complete with a ride to the top of Victoria Peak and a trip on the floating sampans, they flew on to Tokyo. This was not only a business trip, the students also had the opportunity to visit Mount Fuji and rode the bullet train which travels at speeds of 270km\hr.

At the Nissan production plant they saw how organized and complex the work of employees was on the production line. In addition, they visited Fujitsu Siemens and learned more about their global marketing and were amazed at demonstrations of the new technological inventions.

Mitsubishi headquarters was the next stop; students were very interested in this visit after hearing about their project management of the new train system in Dubai.

On the last day the students felt right at home when they visited Mitsui who along with representatives from ADGAS told everyone more about the cooperation between the two companies in the liquid gas industry.

ADGAS presentation

Rashid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Deputy Manager, ADGAS Tokyo Liaison Office, commented, "It was great telling the students the story of ADGAS and its relationship with Japan which spans nearly 28 years.

'We wanted to illustrate the uniqueness of the Japanese business culture and the efforts ADGAS makes in bridging the cultural gaps, not only to secure a safe supply of liquefied natural gas LNG to Japan but also to ensure a clear flow of communication between our customer, Tokyo Electric Power and ourselves."

The students were shocked to see how advanced Tokyo is, how clean it is and how polite the people were. They surely got a cultural shock but were happy to experience a different lifestyle.

As an added bonus, the UAE ambassador to Japan invited the students to his residence where they learned more about the strong and important relationship between the UAE and Japan. Nissan Middle East FZE, as a part of giving back to the community, sponsored one of the students for the study tour.
