Canadian based Whitewater West to supply water park equipment to the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park at Al Areen

In a significant bid to bring the world's largest-ever aquatic attractions to the Middle East, the Al Areen development recently announced the Canadian water park equipment company, Whitewater West, will install an array of hi-tech rides at the US$50 million The Lost Paradise of Dilmun.

A key component of the Al Areen development, The Lost Paradise of Dilmun is based on a distinct theme that ties well with the overall objective of Al Areen - that of enhancing the flow of leisure, family and health-oriented tourists to Bahrain - as well as the development's unique revival of the Kingdom's ancient past. The alliance with Whitewater West for supplies of superior equipment will reinforce Al Areen's appeal in the region.

Speaking on Al Areen's association with Whitewater West, Eng. Waleed Saffy, General Manager of the Al Areen Holding Company, said:

The Lost Paradise of Dilmun will add significant value to Al Areen, which is being developed with the active support of the Government of Bahrain. Designed to showcase Bahrain's long and rich history, The Lost Paradise of Dilmun is located at the northern end of the Al Areen development. It is one of the more prominent locations within the development adding greater value to this unique recreational venue. Spread on 77,000 square metres, the water park is adjacent to the shopping mall complex within Al Areen, a luxurious five-star hotel as well as the Al Areen Wildlife Sanctuary.

Upon completion in early 2006, the total built up area of The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park will cover more than 45,000 square metres, and is estimated to attract over 200,000 visitors per year. Additionally, over 35,000 square metres have been earmarked for future expansion and car parking.

The water park is designed to enhance the contours of the existing hilly terrain adjacent to the Al Areen Wildlife Sanctuary, infusing it with historically symbolic structures and motifs. The differentiating components of the water park include a 300-metre long lazy river encircling a giant wave pool that features a sandy shore. The river will also act as a navigation path through the entire water park. It will flow through a series of themed secret tunnels lined with wall paintings, ancient artefacts, treasures, and the accompaniment of state-of-the-art sound and visual effects.
