Available in January at all Al-Futtaim Motors showrooms in the UAE, the new generation RAV4 has an increased length of more than 14 inches over the previous model, which creates a larger cabin, providing increased shoulder room for all passengers, additional head clearance and legroom for rear passengers, and overall greater passenger comfort. The cargo area has also been increased. In fact, overall the new RAV4 is an impressive 21% bigger on the inside.
The permanent four-wheel drive RAV4 is powered by an up-graded 2.4 litre, four cylinder engine. This is paired with a choice of 4-speed automatic, or 5-speed manual transmission. Equipped with dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) , the new engine will generate 168 HP at 6000 RPM, and 22.8 kg-m of torque at 4000 RPM, making it one of the most powerful 4 cylinder engines in the small SUV segment.
Like all SUVs in the Toyota stable, the RAV4 has reassuring safety features, including anti -lock braking (ABS) with electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), and driver and passenger air bags. High series models also feature Curtain Shield Side and Side Airbags, and a Vehicle Stability Control system which goes beyond conventional traction and stability controls that simply react to challenging driving conditions. The VSC system helps ensure stability and safety by automatically adjusting engine output and the braking force on each wheel when the vehicle experiences oversteer or understeer during cornering.
The RAV4 range has an array of comfort and convenience features including auto air-conditioning, a CD player with 6 speakers, power windows and central locking, keyless entry, and cruise control. Its rugged yet stylish exterior appearance is enhanced by a rear spoiler, roof rails, fog lamps and alloy wheels. The high series models also feature a powered driver's seat, leather seats, a moonroof and rear corner sensors.
Colin Leitch, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Motors commented:
"The exciting new RAV4 is the most recent addition to the Toyota SUV range, following on from the recent launch of the highly successful Fortuner. Coupled with the very strong customer loyalty to the existing Prado and Land Cruiser ranges, we are confident that this extended range of SUVs will meet the continually changing needs of UAE motorists, and ensure our continued overall dominance of the SUV market."
