DED and Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting sign MoU for Industrial Development

In its continuing effort to support and enhance the industrial sector in Dubai and the UAE, the Department of Economic Development (DED) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC).

Dr. Al Mutaweh said:

'DED is one of the leading departments in the region in highlighting professional and industrial principles such as quality and excellence, marketing projects, using IT in customer servicing, and its significant role in human development. The GOIC in cooperation with the DED seek to provide the best services to industrialists in Dubai and the industrial society in the UAE.'



Dr. Al Mutaweh added that the two parties will establish a new programme in the near future titled ' Handling and Industrial Joint Ventures'.

'The streamlined and sustained development of industry is crucial to the growth of the national economy,' said Mr. Al Kassim. 'Expanding the industrial sector will further enable economic diversification leading to attracting greater foreign investment and moving towards a knowledge-based economy, which is one of the strategic objectives of the DED. The MoU with the GOIC will position the DED as the focal point for industrial information and thus facilitate the Department in driving the industrial growth in the UAE,' he added.

Mr. Al Kassim added that GOIC is one of the reputed organizations in its field and signing the MoU supports the cooperation process with modern institutes in developed Industrial countries.

The memorandum signed includes setting manufacturing investment opportunities, organizing training sessions and lectures for investors, training courses for DED employees, establishing institutional programs and projects for developing and enhancing the industrial sector, exchange of information, and setting studies, development plans and joint research.

The two parties agreed on coordinating and cooperating in a number of areas that can be beneficial for the industrial development and setting a mechanism for using the services provided by the organisation.

The two parties also agreed on implementing a number of projects and programs in the next phase in Dubai including organising lectures and training sessions on handling and industrial joint ventures, and setting a study on establishing a handling and industrial joint venture.

About Department of Economic Development (DED):

The Department of Economic Development (DED) was established in March 1992, with the objective to organise, regulate and boost trade and industry within the Emirate of Dubai. The DED has moulded its mission of building a futuristic establishment, in accordance with the vision of the Government of Dubai and in the light of globalisation and the requirements of a digital economy. About Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC):

The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) was founded in 1976 by the Arab Gulf States. Its mandate is to promote industrial cooperation and coordination among its six members, namely the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States (UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait), and to foster industrial development both at the public and private sector levels. To this end, GOIC collects and publishes data and information on industrial projects and policies, suggests viable industrial projects that can be implemented by the GCC States on a joint-venture basis, and submits recommendations with regard to the coordination and integration of industrial projects in the GCC States.
