Advances Grid Engine technology, establishes community-driven distributed computing standards, and enables developers to create innovative services and applications across distributed, heterogeneous compute environments.

java.net

Formed by a diverse group of Sun engineers, researchers, technologists, and evangelists to provide a common site for Java technology conversations and development projects. The community continues to attract industry associations, software vendors, universities, and individual developers and hobbyists. Meeting, sharing ideas, and using java.net collaboration tools, these new communities uncover synergies and create new solutions that expand the value of Java technology.

Jini Network Technology

Created by Sun and advanced by an active community, the Jini technology enables Java dynamic networking for creating highly adaptive systems. Empowered by the release of Sun's Jini network technology contributions under an open source license, the Jini community expands the use of this significant enterprise technology.

The diverse JXTA community includes ISVs, corporate IT, and academia members, as well as many independent developers and consultants. jxta.org members interact online, through e-mail list discussions, project collaboration, and more, as well as in live community meetings.

NetBeans Project

Founded by Sun in 2000 and hosted by CollabNet on Sun's dime, NetBeans.org is a democratic, independent community with thousands of subscribers and several full commercial offerings built on the reference implementation. Two base products—the NetBeans IDE and NetBeans platform—address the needs of developers, users and businesses which rely on NetBeans as a basis for products.
