Emirates winter wonderland brings Alpine ski magic to Dubai

Produced by a snow machine, the snowflakes create a unique Emirates Holidays billboard tableau promoting its winter sports holiday packages to ski resorts in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Lebanon.

Passers-by on the Airport Road are treated to the sight of snowflakes drifting in the air when the huge billboard illuminates after dark, in the city where ambient temperatures never drop near freezing point.

The billboard scene shows the cover of the recently-launched Emirates Holidays Ski brochure - brought to life by snowflakes propelled into the air by the snow machine mounted behind the billboard, and lifelike icicles hanging from the base. The billboard's snow display begins at 7.00 pm each night to the early hours, until December 21.

But the billboard snowflakes are not the only snow in Dubai. The Ski Dubai indoor snow resort at the Mall of the Emirates offers skiers and snowboarders the chance to brush up their skills on a range of slopes, prior to the real thing with Emirates Holidays.

The Emirates Holidays 2005-2006 Ski brochure features some of Europe's finest resorts among spectacular Alpine landscapes, including Interlaken and St. Moritz in Switzerland, Zell am See in Austria, Sestriere in Italy, and Val d'Isere in France. Closer to Dubai, Lebanon's premier ski resort of Faraya-Mzaar is offered in the packages.
