Sprite continues supporting basketball in Jordan by sponsoring the 'Sprite MVP 2006' competition

In preparation for the Jordan Basketball Professional League Tournament to be held in Amman from December 17 - April 2006, Sprite announced that it will continue its support for the third consecutive year.

In collaboration with the Jordan Basketball Federation, Sprite aims to develop basketball in Jordan and to bring it to a more professional level.

Sprite began supporting basketball in Jordan in 2004 when it launched the Sprite MVP competition for the first time. In 2004, Sam Daghlas was announced winner of Sprite MVP 2004, followed by Eyad Abdeen in 2005. In the past, the competition included thousands of awards for consumers who voted and took part in the competition. It also included several competitions and awards for journalists who also supported the competition year after year.

Expressing his sentiments as the first MVP winner, Sam Daghlas, said: 'It was an unforgettable and unique experience. After our team won the league and I was selected as the best player, I was overwhelmed and automatically felt the love of all my fans, who encouraged and supported me. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to Sprite for launching this competition, for making my dream come true and for supporting basketball in Jordan.'

The second winner, Eyad Abdeen, also commented after he won the MVP 2005 competition, by saying: 'The second competition was even more exciting and challenging that the first, with more players competing for the title, more fans voting, and more audience members attending. This made me more determined to win, and will make me even more so, in the upcoming competition.' Sam's and Eyad's comments show the determination and spirit that Sprite MVP seeks to instill in Jordan's youth, through its development of this competition.

Ms. Lubna Forzley Public Affairs & Communications Manager Coca-Cola Middle East commented on Sprite initiative 2006 and said 'Like every year, the 'Sprite MVP 2006' competition, will include a wide range of events and awards staring form the weekly fans prize with the amount of 1000JD and final grand prize 5000JD, also sprite will be implementing a new program for the Sprite MVP 2006 winner including him in its related social responsible projects'.
