Dulsco has always considered human resources as its most important asset and over the years has made a conscious effort to look after them in the best possible manner. The new employee facility to be built, named The Dulsco Village, expected to be completed by September 2006, will be among the best blue-collar employee accommodation units in the UAE.
In the first phase, it will have around 400 rooms with the capacity to house nearly 4000 people and facilities will include a fully equipped gymnasium, indoor sports complex, cricket/football/hockey ground, a recreation hall and adequate parking.
"This is a premium project of Dulsco, and we have taken into consideration every aspect of a person's life and provided accordingly. It is the most expensive project that Dulsco has ever undertaken in its history of 70 years. But it fittingly demonstrates how a good company takes care of its employees,"
says Prakash Mahadalkar, General Manager of Finance and Administration, Dulsco.
With its diverse business activities, Dulsco places great emphasis on the human resources aspect. The company now has over 3500 employees, comprised of around 20 nationalities. They serve the organisation in capacities ranging from professional, administrative, technical and skilled to semi-skilled and unskilled.
"The fundamental axiom of Dulsco's human resources policy is that it is the human being who makes things happen by growing as an individual and thereby making the organisation grow," says Johnson Alexander, General Manager of Human Resources and Quality Systems.
Over the past seventy years, Dulsco has grown along with Dubai. Stevedoring is still one of the major services it provides but it has also added other activities to its diverse portfolio, serving the entire UAE and beyond. In June, 2005 Dulsco became a limited liability company and is all set to expand its influence to the GCC as well as other countries.
