UAE well on route to better road safety

- PRESS RELEASE
Pioneering solutions to improve road safety in the UAE were unveiled by global safety innovators 3M at this year's Gulf Traffic.
"We were greatly encouraged by the response this year; it shows that the UAE are committed and proactive about improving the current road safety situation," commented 3M Country Business Leader Mr. Samir Tabbara. Mr. Tabbara heads the 3M division for Traffic Safety Systems and is responsible for the upgraded cubed reflective sheeting for traffic signs, license plates and markings for long vehicles. When applied to road signs and vehicles, 3M's improved products increase reflectivity and enhance driving visibility during the day and night.
"Approximately 40% of all road accidents occur at times of limited natural light, and in the current winter season daylight in the UAE can end as early as 5pm. Research has proven that drivers can detect 3M's high intensity markings at over twice the distance to standard ones - applying these improved reflective safety solutions to vehicles and signs can dramatically reduce Road Traffic Accidents (RTA's)," he added.
3M's ground-breaking products have already been successfully credited with reducing RTA's around the world and in January the UAE will benefit from those showcased at Gulf Traffic, such as the upgraded Prismatic High Intensity Sheeting and Cubic Diamond Grade™.
Gulf Traffic is the largest transport event of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, and is supported by Ministries of Transport from across the region, as well as the UAE Ministry of the Interior. The event concluded in Dubai last week and was attended by key traffic, transport, road safety, government, construction and city planning executives from across the region.
