For the fourth consecutive year, the pavilion, spread across 1,900 sq metres, brings alive the sights, scents, sounds and products of Singapore, including flowers, ornamental fountains and a wide range of distinctive, high-quality products.
Organised under the patronage of the Singapore Consulate in Dubai, the pavilion greets visitors with a colourful hand-painted facade of the 'Esplanade -Theatres by the Bay,' one of the island's biggest and most impressive structures, as well as other landmarks and tourist attractions of the city.
The pavilion, which will run until March 3, 2006, is showcasing an enchanting range of products, ranging from traditional household items to furniture, garments, antiques, jewellery, handicrafts and gift items.
'There is dynamic synergy between Dubai and Singapore, and tourism between the two cities is growing. The Singapore Pavilion at the Global Village is a perfect place to sample the delights of Singapore and shop for uniquely Singaporean artifacts,' said Sunil Bhatia, CEO, E4 Entertainment, organizers of the pavilion. 'We have ensured that the merchandise is authentic and of the highest quality.'
'It is wellknown that Singapore is one of the world's best-known tourist destinations,' said Bhatia. 'In the Singapore pavilion we have tried to create an ambience that will provide glimpses of what makes the Lion City such a big draw with tourists. We have also ensured that the architecture elegance of the city is conveyed through the images of some of Singapore's biggest landmarks.'
The choice of the facade is appropriate as the 'Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay' is Singapore's most exciting venue for performing arts. Located at the waterfront overlooking Marina Bay, the complex with its distinctive dome-shaped roofs comprises a 1,600-seat concert hall, a 2,000-seat theatre and several recital rooms, theatre and rehearsal studios as well as outdoor performing spaces.
