Social Responsibility at the heart of its mission for Coca-Cola
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, December 21 - 2005 at 16:16
- PRESS RELEASE
With this year coming to an end, Coca-Cola took pride in highlighting its socially responsible spirit, stemming from its clear mission, which endorses community support as a strategic imperative.
To inspire moments of optimism - through their brands and actions. To create value and make a difference - everywhere they engage.
A mission not only applied at a global and regional level, but also in Coca-Cola's local markets, including Jordan. From: employing local citizens; to making valuable investments; to enhancing educational standards by continuing the well-known 'school.com' project and initiating the 'Hospital Libraries' project; to promoting an active lifestyle by supporting sports initiatives, like Sprite MVP and biking, and finally to partnering with a wide range of stakeholders to implement initiatives, Coca-Cola looked for every opportunity to act as a citizen and a partner..
Among those distinctive initiatives, the 'school.com' project, which was inaugurated by Queen Rania in 2001, covering a total of fifteen schools throughout the Kingdom, received exclusive patronage from the Minister of Education, Dr. Khaled Touqan. This project provided public schools with computers and IT training throughout the year. Another, of Coca-Cola's community projects which made impact this year, was 'Hospital Libraries', which provided hospitalized children with libraries so that they can be educated and entertained.
Looking back and wrapping up 2005, Coca-Cola will make one last touch today during its annual gathering, by thanking each and every individual and organization, who not only contributed to its success and to making a difference, but also shared the company's inspiring mission. The location; Radisson SAS Hotel, target of the recent terrorist attacks in Amman, will not come as a surprise to Coca-Cola's guests, since it further signifies Coca-Cola's community and social responsibility spirit.
