Sri Lanka chases Arab tourists

Sri Lanka will open a tourism office in Dubai in summer 2006 in an effort to attract more Arab travellers, the Minister of Tourism Anura Bandarnaike told Gulf News. The country has received 525,000 tourists so far in 2005, down from the pre-tsunami level of 675,000, but aims to increase capacity to handle 1m visitors a year by 2010.
