ACI Facilitation and Services Committee Chairman lauds the high quality services at Dubai airport

The world Facilitation and Services Committee of the Airport Council International (ACI) held its 22nd meeting at Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Dubai, from 12 to 14th December 2006.

The event was hosted by Department of Civil Aviation, Operations Directorate, and was inaugurated by Mr. Thani Bin Jersh, Director of Human Resources and Development on behalf of the Chairman of Asia Region - ACI Mr. Mohammed A. Ahli, Director Operations - DCA.

The committee during its session covered the most important aspects of the airports that signify quality of services, facilitation of passenger baggage, automated services and health factors. The meeting also debated current issues like application of biometrics in border control, simplifying passenger travel (STP), screening for infectious diseases etc, in covering 22 agenda items. A presentation was made by the Director Technical Services of ACI on Airport Services Quality (ASQ), a program for benchmarking airports. Dubai airport was one of the first in the gulf to join this program.

Mr. Hans-Joachim Klohs, The Committee Chairman, in his concluding address, applauded the efforts taken by the Department to ensure high quality services at the airport by providing necessary infrastructure viz automated baggage system, e-cards, self-checking kiosks and friendly environment for passenger comfort. He paid a handsome tribute to the authorities for improving the facilities at the airport by using the latest technology available in the market.

Visitors were taken around the airport to gain a first hand knowledge of the airport's readiness for A380 operations.
