Said Salah Al Naghi, member of the DSF Organising Committee and Chairman of the Carpet Oasis, "The Carpet Oasis website aims to provide the best for the visitors of the event so that they would be well informed, enabling them to make the right choices. A team of the IT department of the Dubai Port, Customs and Freezone make sure that the website is continually updated on the international network under the Dubai government's directions which aims to metamorphose into an e-government to support the business society in Dubai as well as reach international standards.
"This step comes in the framework of support given by Dubai Port, Customs and Freezone for many commercial and industrial sectors in Dubai. It also aims to help the institutions and commercial companies participating at the Carpet Oasis by promoting the Oasis that portrays the life and culture of the carpet-producing communities in its most fascinating aspects through the amazing artistic impressions."
Al Naghi further commented,
"The IT team in charge of the website are also currently working on a concept where the comments and, studies and ideas of the people involved in the carpet industry will be inculcated into a site in the near future."
Among other things, the revamped website provides information on names and contact details of the participants which would enable visitors to contact them direct to place any orders. This would greatly help potential buyers to shop around before making a decision.
The bilingual website also features a collection of photographs of some of the special carpets on display this year. The Carpet Oasis that boasts some of the finest handmade carpets from the best carpet producing countries around the world presents some rare collection every year. These unique and expensive carpets that often date back to hundreds of years or are made of finest of material.
The Carpet Oasis offers an enormous variety of exquisite quality products that suit every requirement and cater to every taste of both the local and international shoppers equally. The exhibited items at the Oasis comprise of the most renowned and famous types of carpets and rugs in the world like the estimable Persian carpets from Isfahan, Qumm, Na`een, Hamdan and Tabreez. The collection also comprises of the spectacular carpets of other famous regions like "Hariki" of Turkey and even more varieties from Afghanistan, India and Pakistan.
Since its inception in 1996, the sales figures of the Oasis have been rising sharply year after year. And for the forthcoming round, the Carpet Oasis is expected to achieve higher sales on account of its sheer variety of more than 150,000 carpets coming in from various participating artisans from carpet-producing countries.

Organised by the Dubai Port, Customs and Freezone, this DSF activity will take place at the Dubai World Trade Center Hall No.1 from 10am to 10pm (Friday 4pm to 11pm) January 4 till January 14.
The Dubai Shopping Festival 2006 runs between January 4 and February 4, 2006.
