Etisalat and Ras al Khaimah authorities have uncovered a racket in some local cafes and restaurants where high-tech machines were being used to make cheap long distance phone calls through the Internet, for as little as Dh1 a call, reported Gulf News. Police arrested alleged members of an Asian gang, who were using the illegal hardware which was brought in from outside the UAE.
