Nineteen undergraduates from Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) have successfully passed the first in a series of e-Learning courses that are jointly organized with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The "JICA - NET" course was held at PSUT campus and aimed at enhancing the academic and vocational skills of PSUT students. Over three months of training, the students were updated with the latest in the TCP/IP-based multimedia network technology that is designed for distance learning. The series of JICA's courses is the outcome of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Princess Sumaya University for Technology and JICA.

A group of Japanese IT experts extensively trained PSUT students on the switching systems, transmission control systems, and the Internet Protocol applications. The Jordanian Minhaj Educational Technologies Company equipped the course with the required tools.

Professor Hisham Ghassib, president of PSUT, stated,

"We congratulate our students on obtaining this important certificate in the latest IT-based learning applications as a result of PSUT's fruitful cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency. With these courses, PSUT undergraduates will be able to abreast their international counterparts in attaining the most advanced applications in the ICT field, which is an impressive deed for them to integrate in the labor market."

On his part, Mr. Morikawa Hideo, the Resident Representative of JICA Jordan Office, said, "JICA is pleased to cooperate with PSUT, and is also proud to see PSUT students conform to this cooperation with much interest. JICA is providing PSUT with the required facilities that promote the fruitful interaction between the students and their Japanese instructors, who are giving their directions via Video-Conferencing sessions."

Dr. Arafat Awajan, Dean of The King Hussein School for Information Technology, pointed out that PSUT students have illustrated much interest and interaction with JICA's course. He added, "The course helped students to apply some of the IT basics they were trained on at PSUT. We believe the students will show more interaction and curiosity in the forthcoming courses that will significantly enhance their vocational and academic qualifications."
