The foundation called the AICR Amicale Internationale des Chefs de Reception et Sous Directeurs des Grand Hotels or Association of Front Office Managers is an internationally well-reputed group and has opened a chapter in Dubai under the aegis of DTCM to nurture the entrepreneurial skills of young managers.
The main aim of the foundation is to groom young talent and create a pool of young receptionists who will raise the standard of custom services at Dubai's rapidly increasing five-star properties.
Recently receptionists from different hotels in Dubai sent in their entries for the international version of the competition 'Receptionist of the Year' 2005.
Among the entries from 25 hotels, Mr. Mohammed Sultan from Fairmont Hotel was chosen as the Receptionist of the Year 2005 while Ms. Marion Flatscher from the Jumeirah Beach Hotel bagged the first runners-up and Mr. Ibrahim Mairich from the Le Meridien Hotel was placed in the third position.
Mr. Mohammed Sultan will represent Dubai at the International Receptionist of the Year 2005 that is slated to be held in London this month.
The DTCM also recently held induction training for 18 of its new employees. The training meant for preparing a person to take up a particular position within the department ensured that the employees are retained and then settled in quickly and happily to a productive role.
DTCM pioneers initiative to train front office personnel in hotels
Keeping pace with Dubai's rapid face of hotel development, the Training Solutions of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has pioneered an initiative to train front office and rooms managers.
