The revolutionary Walkman

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, January 08 - 2006 at 16:36
  • PRESS RELEASE

26 years after creating a ground-breaking personal mobile music lifestyle, Walkman again redefines music listening with the new A-series.

"The new Walkman reinvents the way people listen to music. This digital music player does not only play music but it actually understands and adapts to the user's taste in music by customizing the songs in the player to suit the individual's mood," said Masaru Tamagawa, Managing Director, Sony Gulf FZE. "The distinctively designed Walkman with intelligent features is like no other product and will be a breakthrough for us."

Encased in a frameless Organic Electroluminescence (OEL) display, the Walkman is elegantly curved to achieve the ergonomic feel and stylish design. With the built-in intelligence like the "Artist Link" function, the NW-A3000 and NW-A1000 customise one's personal music taste during a music playback. With one touch, the player will launch a search for similar artists stored inside and list the songs comparable to the music style. Its long battery life of up to 50 hours* makes the Walkman an extremely portable music player. The NW-A3000 (20GB) and NW-A600 series (2GB).are available in violet and silver while the NW-A1000 (6GB) has additional colour options of pink and blue.

Listening Music in a Smart Way

Similar to the "Artist Link", the NW-A600 series randomly plays equivalent artists with "Artist Link Shuffle". In "My Favourite Shuffle", the Walkman plays the top 100 most popular songs in the player selected by an in-built rating system. By choosing "Time Machine Shuffle", the Walkman picks a year and randomly plays all available songs from that year.

In addition, sports fanatics will be thrilled about the NW-A600 series which features "Sports Shuffle" and a built-in FM tuner. The "Sports Shuffle" can be programmed to an intended workout time and the music will stop once the session ends.

Friendly Interface for Quick Accessibility

The new Walkman adopts the mobile phone style "Home Menu" for easy navigation with a four-way directional button. There are nine big icons with access to "Music Library", "Play Mode", "Initial Search", "Intelligent Shuffle", "Favourite 100", "Play History", "Settings", "Playlist" and "Now Playing". With "Initial Search", a particular song can be played quickly without searching through thousands of songs. Instead, user can scroll from letters A-Z based on the initial letter of the song title. Music can also be searched in a variety of ways, via 'Genre', 'Artist', 'Album', 'Song', 'Release Date', 'Rating' and 'Recently Transferred', all of which can be scrolled through to enable users to play their music faster and easier.

Moreover, the new CONNECT Player software increases the user's experience of managing a music library with a "drag and drop" function for fast and easy transfer of music files between library and player.

Accessories for Lifestyle Enhancement

Each Walkman is packaged with a set of colour-matched earphones. A range of optional accessories is also designed to complement the Walkman owner's lifestyle. These accessories, for both NW-A3000 and NW-A1000 include:
• stylish remote control for convenient playback
• charging cradle
• speaker dock
• carrying cases in various colours
• USB charging AC adaptor (AC-U50A) (also for NW-A600 series)
• FM transmitter to play music via car audio (also for NW-A600 series)
