Qatar intends to be the world's largest exporter of LNG by 2012, as well as a pioneering centre for Gas-To-Liquids technology. It is therefore no surprise that Doha is the host for the 11th Middle East Gas Summit this year.

'MEGAS will feature a comprehensive and high profile programme aimed at informing delegates of the strategic direction and investment opportunities that exist in the Middle East gas industry,' said a statement about the event which is to be held in Doha's InterContinental Hotel.

'MEGAS will also provide companies with a chance to achieve maximum exposure to major decision makers within the region, as well as the chance to develop new contacts and see existing clients.'

A pre-conference workshop on Gas-To-Liquids economics is also being held on February 18 to provide 'an understanding of the key technical and economic issues in developing gas reserves for the production of marketable liquids and chemicals.'
