The potential of human resources in increasing organizational productivity came to light during independent research carried out by impaQta as it gears up to meet the challenges of new hybrid economies and focuses its consultancy and development tools to aid business partners in aligning human resources to corporate objectives.

'The challenges and obstacles in today's knowledge-intensive economies mean that organisations are increasingly coming to the realization that sustainable growth is impossible without human capital investment.

Multinational organisations and small and medium businesses are all facing issues in developing personnel expertise cores that can serve as viable platform for organizational change and development,' said Kanbar.

Studies show that over 50 per cent of organizational diversification and expansion plans in the region achieve less then half of their initial objectives due largely to people related issues. Attracting, training and retaining talent is increasingly important in successful change management and sustainable growth. Human resource has become an integrated function within strategic planning, and competitive advantage in the knowledge economy comes from aligning personnel goals with business objectives and organizational culture.

impaQta research indicates that industry sectors can increase their competencies and boost gains by relying on a diversified, multi-cultural workforce that includes UAE nationals, mitigating the risk of communication failure and lack of target market understanding due to cultural differences, behavioral norms and modes of presentation.

'Nationals are vastly under-represented in the regional workforce that draws largely on expatriate expertise, leaving a dearth of skill and transferable knowledge in the indigenous workforce. In order for the UAE to take the next step forward, concrete steps must be taken to empower, train and gainfully employ nationals,' commented Kanbar.

'Today, skilled human resources have become even harder to retain due to rapid demands on career development, financial compensation and general appreciation, and impaQta studies indicate that the new competitive paradigm will be as much about retaining talent as grabbing market share,' he added.

impaQta is a leading knowledge aggregation and integration company in the Middle East, with core competencies including training, facilitation and management consultancy with emphasis on knowledge definition, acquisition and utilization.

'Human resources play a primary role in sustainable development strategies, and it must be given greater priority, not just at the national level, but also at corporate levels. Such improvement cannot be effected merely radical changes and enforcing regulations. impaQta is concentrating its efforts towards providing overall strategies for sustainable human resources development based on the tenets of information dissemination and knowledge sharing.' Kanbar concluded.
