DCCI receives the Ambassador of Poland

Abdulrahman G. Al Mutaiwee the Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry DCCI received the Ambassador of Poland, His Excellency Roman Chalaczkiewicz.

Also in attendance was Mr. Sultan Majed Lootah the Director of Business Promotion Department at DCCI. The meeting discussed ways of strengthening the economical and commercial bilateral mutual relations between the UAE and Poland.

The Ambassador appointed the superior relation between UAE and Poland mentioned the visit of the Polish President to the UAE in 2004. The President met H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahian the President of UAE and late Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum which helped the relations between the two countries. He explained the bilateral trade grows about 30% every year.

The Ambassador highlighted the positive progress in Poland, he explained that the private sector now represents 70% of the Polish Economy. Chalaczkiewicz mentioned that 65% of the Polish exports trends to Europe and the European Market which are one of the most difficult markets and especially the European Union Market, and this reflects the quality of the Polish products.

Chalaczkiewicz mentioned that Poland attracted 6 billion US dollars of foreign investments in 2005 and there are expectations that the bilateral trade between UAE and Poland will reach 200 million US dollars in 2005. He explained the volume of Polish exports to the UAE exceeds the volume of its exports to some of the larger countries in the region.

Al Mutaiwee welcomed this visit which will create new opportunities for business between the two countries. He expressed the Chamber's interest in inviting DCCI members to meet their counterparts from Poland and supporting those which are interested in accessing the Dubai market.

The Director General told the delegation that Dubai holds more than 50 international fairs and exhibitions every year; he invited the Polish companies to participate in these exhibitions that represent an opportunity to access Dubai and neighboring markets.

Al Mutaiwee urged to establishment of a trade office in Dubai to support the trade between the two countries and to develop new opportunities for the investors and businessmen. Al Mutaiwee explained that the existence of a direct flight been Dubai and Warsaw will boost the bilateral trade between the two sides and ease business and tourist travel in the both directions.

The Ambassador explained that several Polish companies will participate in the Arab Health Exhibition which will take place in Dubai World Trade Center from 22 to 25 of January 2006 and a Polish tourism company that will participate in Arabian Travel Market which will be held from 2nd to the 5th of May 2006.

The statistics shows that the total bilateral trade between the UAE and Poland increased from about 100 thousands Dirhams (26000 US dollars) in the year 2000 to 270 thousand Dirhams (73000 US dollars) in 2004.
