- PRESS RELEASE
eHosting DataFort (EHDF), the managed technology and IT security services company that is part of the Dubai Holding group, announced today that more than 75 per cent of its staff have achieved certification in IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management.
ITIL is the industry's most widely accepted approach to IT service management, provides a set of best practices, drawn from the public and private sectors internationally.
The certification was achieved after comprehensive ITIL Training for all EHDF's staff. This was followed by a written examination supervised by an external organization. Over 75 % of EHDF's employees passed the examination.
ITIL certification signifies that EHDF staff have a comprehensive understanding of international best practices for IT Service Management. This includes an understanding of how divisions of the IT organisation work together to deliver a service as well as activities such as change management, availability management and root cause analysis.
"I would like to congratulate the EHDF team for this tremendous achievement," said Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Barwani, CEO of EHDF. "ITIL certification proves that our services are delivered by people who have international standards of IT service expertise and awareness of best practices. This will reinforce EHDF's position as the region's leading managed technology and security services company. ITIL certification will also help us evolve and refine our service management to help our clients meet the increasing challenges of a complex technology environment," he added.
Following the ITIL certification exercise, EHDF is undergoing a major re-engineering of its processes, systems and service management. In conformance with ITIL guidelines, the organisation has been restructured to ensure optimum service delivery for EHDF's clients.
ITIL is the only comprehensive documentation of best practice for IT Service Management. Used by many hundreds of organisations around the world, ITIL provides the foundation for quality IT Service Management. ITIL is essentially a series of documents used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management. This customizable framework defines how Service Management is applied within an organization.
ITIL provides IT professionals with the knowledge and resources they need to run and maintain an effective and efficient IT Infrastructure which meets the needs of their clients while keeping costs at a minimum. The widespread adoption of the ITIL guidance has encouraged organisations worldwide, both commercial and non-proprietary, to develop supporting products as part of a shared 'ITIL Philosophy'.
ITIL has been developed in recognition of organisations' growing dependency on IT and embodies best practices for IT Service Management. The ethos behind the development of ITIL is the recognition that organisations are becoming increasingly dependent on IT in order to satisfy their corporate aims and meet their business needs. This leads to an increased requirement for high quality IT services.
