Intersec's Exhibition Manager, Imke Huelsmann, is assured that the 2006 show's growth is due to worldwide increased focus on security and safety. "Add to that the burgeoning construction and tourism markets in the Gulf region, security and safety have become an essential part of continuing growth."

Awareness on security and safety is becoming increasingly more significant, with the exceptional building boom within the UAE, vast projects such as Dubai's Palm Islands, The World and Snow Dome, Doha's Pearl and Bahrain's Durat Resort signify the growing demand within the area. Development to this extent has never been witnessed before. International and regional companies realize the opportunities that are available to them within the Gulf through this accelerated growth; all aspects of security are essential to this continuing.

The endless growth in travel and tourism has had an incredible impact on tighter means of security and safety. Annually Dubai International Airport handles over 20 million passengers, where as Abu Dhabi over 5 million, this is a substantial number of passenger traffic therefore tight airport security and border controls are crucial. Identity cards will be introduced into Abu Dhabi later this year and the UAE will be the first country globally to use iris scan. Passenger traffic is estimated to increase to more than 50 million once the new terminal is completed in Dubai.

The Middle East is increasingly hosting more and more major events for example next year's Asian Games are being hosted by Qatar, the annual Formula One Grand Prix in Bahrain, the recent World Economic Forum in Jordan and numerous comparable events held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Due to this an increased heightened provision of security within the region is inevitable.

Commercial Security exhibitors include some of the key players in the industry such as AEC Electronics, who specialise in CCTV and security surveillance. PEVAC offer their range of High security obstacles, roadblocks, terrain blockers and speed doors. Emirates Specialities will be exhibiting their selection of anti terrorist and high security fencing and International Armoured Group with their range of armoured cars. Other exhibitors include: ATECO, Lootah, Digital Networks, Technostream and Advanced General Trading.

Dubai the commercial hub of the UAE is an attractive centre for business and pleasure to visitors globally and within the region; consequently the perfect platform for major trade shows such as Intersec 2006.
