- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 18 - 2006 at 09:57
- PRESS RELEASE
International maritime publisher and events organiser, Seatrade, has issued a call for entries and nominations for the prestigious Dubai International Maritime Awards (DIMAs), the leading honours that recognise top industry achievers in West and Central Asia. This year, the DIMAs include an additional seven categories.
"These seven new awards reflect the growing strength and scope of commerce in the regional maritime community."
An independent panel of judges, chaired by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), will decide winners in the four previously established award categories of Safety and Quality in Shipping, Technical Innovation, Environmental Protection, and Education & Training.
The DIMAs will also include two special categories: The Seatrade Personality of the Year for West and Central Asia and The Dubai Cruise Award.
"Last year, over 500 representatives from the local and international maritime communities attended the DIMAs gala dinner, confirming it as the premier maritime awards scheme for the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent," added Hayman.
This year the DIMAs gala dinner will be held on Monday 4 December. This will correspond with the first day of Seatrade Middle East Maritime (SMEM), the region's leading maritime industries exhibition and conference.
