- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), in joint partnership and sponsorship with ADNOC Distribution and Emarat, jointly conducted, and for the first time, a 'Road Tanker Incident Response Planning' workshop in both Dubai and Muscat recently.
The workshop was divided into a series of lectures held in Dubai and practical training sessions at the Fire Safety Engineering College, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. The course was designed for participants who had some back ground in fire emergency response planning. The participants were taken through the fundamental requirements and skills of becoming a highway emergency response specialist.
This is the first time the EHS departments of UAE's three major oil marketing companies - ENOC, ADNOC Distribution and Emarat have worked together to equip staff and authorities together with both knowledge and vocational training to tackle road tanker roll over incidents.
Conducted by Senior EHS Compliance Officer's from the ENOC EHS Compliance Department, the main aim of this training was to prepare participants to deal with emergencies, immediately take control of the incident and minimise losses and damages to the community.
The workshop reiterated the importance of emergency response planning, understanding road tanker designs and specification, and planning and documentation. The participants studied different case studies to appreciate the consequences of poor planning and were taken through a simulation exercise to appreciate the tactics, equipment and strategies that may be employed when responding road tanker fire and spill incidents as well as up righting.
The workshop touched on important aspects like tactical and logistical response, communication, command and teamwork. The technical aspects and case studies discussed in this training were based on oil company guidelines and best practice guides in addition to the expertise in road tanker incidents adopted mainly from local experience and international best practice.
