DIFC showcases unique exhibition of traditional handcrafted pieces of Emarati jewellery

A unique exhibition of traditional Emarati, handcrafted pieces of jewellery is being showcased at the landmark Gate Building, Dubai International Financial Centre.

The exhibition to be held from 22nd to the 27th of January 2006, features pieces designed by Azza Al Qubaisi, Abu Dhabi's premier jewellery designer and founder of Arjmst. The exhibition will be open from 9 am until 6 pm.

Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, Director General of DIFC Authority, commented on the opening of the exhibition:
"The DIFC takes pride in showcasing the works of art by Azza Al Qubaisi. It is our aim to promote talent and entrepreneurship amongst the youth of the UAE. Azza's jewellery reflect the culture and traditions of the UAE and it our effort to present this to all the organisations based in the DIFC and their visitors."


Mr Marwan Lutfi, Business Development Director at the DIFC commented: "This is our way of contributing towards the cultural and social development of our community. We would like to encourage more young talented nationals to come forward and showcase their creativity and abilities. Having such an exhibition at the Gate Building adds value not just for the artist but also for the audience."

Azza Al Qubaisi commented "I was inspired by the architectural design of The Gate, which represents a spiritual unity where contemporary arts compliments modern business. It is a true reflection of the timeless quality this region possesses. I am truly humbled to see the initiative and the precedent that DIFC has set by showcasing my jewelry, myself. Art really captures the essence of the soul of a culture, time has arrived for the creative people to be heard."

Al Qubaisi will be exhibiting her new collections, Ayalak and Marine Symphony which will be the highlight of the exhibition. Each piece of jewellery represents nature, inspiration, vision and distinctivenss. Al Qubaisi's, Arjmst brand has been exhibited in London, Finland, and UAE and numerous Ramadan and Eid Festivals.

Born in Abu Dhabi and educated in London, Al Qubaisi studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design (Diploma of Foundation Studies), the prestigious London Guildhall University (Jewelry Design and Allied Crafts B.A., Honours), and the HRD Institute of Gemology in Antwerp, Belgium. Upon completion of her studies, Al Qubaisi createdand launched the brand Arjmst: The Arabian Workshop for Jewelry and Gemstones in Abu Dhabi.

The DIFC Courts - An independent court system set up to uphold the provisions of DIFC laws and regulations, the courts provide comprehensive legal redress in civil and commercial matters within the DIFC. The laws, enacted by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, provide for a new court system designed especially for the DIFC and the sophisticated transactions that will be conducted within it.
• The law establishing the Judicial Authority at the DIFC creates and sets out the jurisdiction of the court and provides for a dispute resolution services, including arbitration and mediation, thus allowing for the independent administration of justice in the DIFC; and
• The DIFC Courts Law sets out the jurisdiction, powers, procedures, functions and administration of the court. ( www.difccourts.ae )
