Once again, the 2006 event is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

IIFF occupies a leading place in the Islamic finance industry, acknowledged to be at the cutting edge of industry innovation, as well as being the world's leading networking occasion for specialists in the field.

Over 50 expert speakers will provide an insight into a diverse range of topics including asset management, SRI (socially responsible investing), prospects for Islamic retail finance, Islamic jurisdictions, private equity, Islamic securitisation, corporate finance, investment banking, Islamic credit cards, online banking, mortgages and insurance.

Speaking for conference organiser IIR Middle East, Christianna Tsiterou, Conference Director, said: 'Today, the Islamic Finance industry globally is managing well over half a trillion US$, and yet it must not become complacent if it is to maintain its growth and realise its potential. It is our firm belief that the outcome of the IIFF could have major implications for the industry. This event has gone from strength to strength, and last year attracted over 300 delegates. With the continuing growth of Islamic finance, both at the retail and institutional level, the industry's requirement for this forum has never been more acute.'

As a special highlight of the event, the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Islamic Finance Awards will be held to celebrate and honour excellence In Islamic Finance.

The role of Islamic finance in Corporate Social Responsibility will also come under the spotlight, as delegates will get the chance to discuss the increasingly important issues around ethical finance.

In another significant development, the issue of the global shortage of Shari'ah scholars will also be tackled, including a workshop for the industry on training new and potential Shari'ah scholars.

'The IIFF has matured into being a fundamental element in the international Islamic finance calendar,' added Tsiterou, 'and we have endeavoured this year to include something for all parts of the industry. Retail, wholesale, front and back office will all be covered: the 2006 event reflects the increasingly global position and importance of Islamic finance.'

Running in parallel with the Forum, there will be an exhibition for companies to showcase a wide range of Islamic products and solutions.
