Tanmia holds briefing session for 150 national jobseekers on the role of Public Relations Officers

The National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, Tanmia in association with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Dubai Police, Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department and the Department of Economic Development today held a briefing session on the role of a Public Relations Officer (PRO), for over 150 National jobseekers from Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

Jaber Al Khumiri, Manager of Tanmia Abu Dhabi Office, Hamid Dimas, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Lt Majed Al Bardan, Head of the Services and Supply Department, Dubai Police and Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General, Planning and Development, Department of Economic Development were present at the event.

The session was aimed at demonstrating the role of PROs and encouraging jobseekers to enrol in Tanmia's programme. The PRO training program covers topics such as office management, communication, customer service excellence, etiquette, report writing, body language and residency and labour laws.

"This session was meant to hone the necessary skills of the National jobseekers to enhance their job prospects and to help them effectively carry out their duties as PROs," said Jaber Al Khumiri. "The role of a Public Relations Officer requires the candidate to possess skills in communication and customer service, besides having an understanding of various laws and developments taking place in the country."

Tanmia initially launched the programme in September 03, 2005 and nominated 100 jobseekers registered in its database to enrol. The first batch started their training in September and completed it this month and has been given certificates of completion. The next batch will soon start their training which will be given by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Dubai Police, Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department and Department of Economic Development.

About Tanmia
Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market.
