Gulf Air sponsors golf tournament to raise funds for charity

Gulf Air will be sponsoring the seventh Bahrain Golf Invitational (BGI) tournament, which will be held from 25 to 27 January at Riffa Golf Club.
Gulf Air will be by giving away two Business class tickets to Johannesburg and another two Business class tickets to Dublin for winners of a raffle at the tournament.
"It is one of our gestures to contribute to the wellbeing of the Bahraini society," says Vice President Marketing and Sales Danny Barranger.
"Gulf Air always rises to such occasions as it is important for us to care for the society in which we live. We have supported several such causes before, which include helping diabetic children through Bahrain Diabetic Society."
Tournament organiser the Adliya Rotary Club hopes to raise funds to the tune of BD80, 000 through the raffle and other sponsorships.
"We are thankful to Gulf Air for sponsoring the event. This will go a long way in the success of our work," says BGI 2006 Committee Chairman Dr Yousef Mashal.
"We hope to provide the medical centres and the Salmaniya Medical complex with Acoustic Emission test (OAE) equipments, which will be able to conduct special test by using sound impulses and recording the response of the baby to the sound stimuli, then it can be defined if the child has possible hearing loss or not, to be treated promptly."
Around 200 golfers took part in last year's tournament and the organiser hopes for more participants this year.
The format is a two-man team Texas Scramble with two teams assigned to each hole. The tournament is open to men and women with lots of prizes up for grabs.
