DCCI seeks potential ways of cooperation with Arab Portuguese Chamber

Abdulrahman G. Al Mutaiwee the Director General of DCCI received the president of the Arab Portuguese Commerce and Industry Chamber, Mr. Angelo Correia and Allaoua Karim the General Secretary.

In attendance was Mr. Sultan Majed Lootah the Director of Business Promotion Department at DCCI. The meeting discussed the potential ways of strengthening the bilateral relation between the two chambers.

Correia explained during the meeting the importance of the cooperation and coordination between the two establishments, exchanging the information on business opportunities in both countries as well as exchanging trade missions and delegations.

Al Mutaiwee welcomed Correia's visit which will boost and enhance the bilateral trade between the two chambers. He spoke of the importance of having a direct flight between Dubai and Lisbon, to facilitate the transfer of businessmen and tourists between the two countries. He invited Portuguese companies to participate in Dubai's exhibitions in order to explore this region's markets.

Correia highlighted the efforts of the tourism sector in Portugal and he mentioned that the Agency of Portuguese Investments API was established recently to promote business opportunities in Portugal. Correia explained his Chamber initiative in organizing seminars in the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait and Riyadh to promote the business opportunities in Portugal.

The statistics show that the total bilateral trade between Dubai and Portugal increased from about 115 million Dirhams (31 million US dollars) in year 2000 to 151 million dirhams (41 million US dollars) in 2004.
