Tech International announces expansion plans at Steelfab

UAE-based Tech International, an exhibitor at the SteelFab show, announced on Monday, an ambitious growth plan of setting up a state of the art jobshop facility on a 20,000 sq.mtr land in the Hamriyah Free Zone.

The new facility will be known as meTECH Jobshop F.Z.C.

It has attracted a total investment of Dirhams 10 million and will be operational by April 2006. Over 90% of the work on the project is already complete.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the second edition of SteelFab, Middle East's exclusive and most established trade platform for manufacturers and distributors of machine tools, machinery, consumables and other items related to the steel working business, that is currently on at Expo Centre Sharjah.

Tech International is a part of the Oman-based Al Sulaimi group of companies.

"The meTech Jobshop facility will fabricate wear parts and provide services in welding, cutting, automated hardfacing, protective coatings and a well equipped machine shop,"


said Mr. Firoz Jariwala, Executive Director, Al Sulaimi Group.

The Jobshop will house a modern production facility for production of weld clad plates in technical collaboration with Welding Alloys Ltd, U.K., the worlds leading manufacturer of flux cored welding wire, automated welding equipment for specialized services such as joining, rebuilding and hardfacing to reduce component wear.

The Jobshop facility will also manufacture different types of concrete mixers used in the construction industry under technology transfer from Sicoma, Italy, a leading concrete mixer manufacturer. Besides, it will undertake complete designing, installation, and commissioning of Batching Plants.

meTECH Jobshop has already received authorisation as a repair shop for manufacturing and refurbishment of earth moving buckets by SSAB OXELOSUND, a top manufacturer of wear resistant plates - HARDOX.

Manufacture of static parts for I.D./F.D. fans under technical know how from Reitz, Germany/India too will be undertaken at the new facility.

According to Tech International, firm plans to start production of an entire assembly including the impellers/blowers in the coming months have been drawn up. These fans are well accepted in the Middle East and firm orders from cement plants in U.A.E, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Kuwait, are in place.

"Steel forming, welding, cutting and maintenance are integral part of our business philosophy in the Middle East," said Mr. S. P. Singh, General Manager, Middle East operations, Tech International.

Tech International is participating in SteelFab for the second time. The company had received a very positive feedback from its participation in the previous edition.

The three-day SteelFab, which began on January 22-24, 2006, is hosting 212 brands and companies from 29 countries and showcasing the region's largest display of Steel, Fasteners, Accessories, Surface Preparation, Machinery and Tools, Welding and Cutting, Finishing and Testing equipment, and Coatings and Anti-Corrosion material.

The event is being organized by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
