On the occasion of an official media conference in Bahrain on Monday, representatives of Swiss Exhibition and the Bahrain International Convention Centre of the Kingdom of Bahrain signed a letter of intent. The cooperation includes an exchange between the garden and lifestyle shows in Zurich (GiardinaZURICH, 15 - 19 March 2006) and its partner event in Karlsruhe (GiardinaKARLSRUHE, 16 - 19 February 2006) and the Bahrain International Garden Show. For the first time, Swiss and German exhibitors will have the opportunity to participate at this exhibition held in Bahrain. The next Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS), taking place from 5 - 8 April 2006, stands under the patronage of His Majesty King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his spouse, Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa.
Royal visit in Zurich
The first glittering highlight of this cooperation will be the visit of Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa in Zurich. She will, as guest of honour, open the garden and lifestyle exhibition GiardinaZURICH at Exhibitions Center Zurich on Tuesday, 14 March 2006.
Committed First Lady
Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka is doing a great deal for the preservation of flora and fauna in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as for the country's cultural and architectural heritage. In addition, she promotes social projects, particularly regarding to family support as well as the role of women in various areas. She is President of the Supreme Council for Women.
GiardinaZURICH: Garden and Lifestyle
As indoor event, GiardinaZURICH belongs to the most unique exhibitions in Europe. During this year's event, from 15 - 19 March 2006, 250 exhibitors from home and abroad will present the latest trends in garden and terrace design. The exhibition will be completed with a living area, a comprehensive offer of plants and floristry as well as a large selection of garden furniture. Well-known exhibitors such as Enzo Enea, Winkler & Richard and Richards Gardendesign as well as the Society of Swiss Gardner Masters are involved at GiardinaZURICH.
Insular State of Bahrain
The Kingdom of Bahrain is an insular state on an archipelago in the Arabian Gulf, east of Saudi-Arabia, and counts barely 700,000 inhabitants. The most important resources are oil and natural gas. Bahrain is the leading exporter of aluminium.
