LGE launches DVD/VCR Combi in the UAE
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, July 31 - 2002 at 14:12
- PRESS RELEASE
Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics has introduced its first DVD/VCR Combination player into the United Arab Emirates.
The DC593W combines DVD, VCR, video CD, audio CD and MP3 technology all-in-one. "This new product has evolved from the DVD Combi but also has a digital coaxial connection. This allows connection to an amplifier equipped with a multi-channel decoder such as Dolby Digital or DTS, for theatre-like high quality, surround sound delivered within the home," said Ahn.
"For customers without a separate home theatre system, the DVD Combo can produce a 3D surround sound effect which simulates multi-channel audio playback through two conventional speakers instead of the five or more normally required."
The new DVD Combi is based on LG's progressive scan technology.
"This delivers far better clarity and streaming of video images compared to the existing 'Interlace' analog scanning method," explained Ahn.
"The unit allows a DVD to be watched whilst a TV programme is recorded and with the remote control viewers can toggle between the two."
LGE's DVD Combi delivers surround sound with Dolby digital AC-3 and can playback not only DVDs, VCDs and CDs but also CD-Roms, CD-Rewritable discs and MP3 CDs.
"We will continue to develop differentiated DVD Combi products that can receive DVD and VCR as well as audio and radio signals," said Ahn. "LGE will also continue to introduce Combi home theatre products to lead the DVD and VCR combined product market."
LGE is targetting sales of US$ 2 m for DVD Combis in the lower Gulf this year.
"We are very hopeful of the Middle East market where the home theatre concept has been swiftly adopted," added Ahn.
