DTCM promotes Dubai in Austria and Finland

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), in its continued endeavour to promote Dubai overseas as a leading trade and leisure destination, participated recently at two international travel and tourism fairs in Austria and Finland.
The Dubai stand at the Ferien Messe International Fair for Holidays, Travel and Leisure- measured around 50 sq. mts and was visited by a large number of tourists and traders. The fair at an average attracts more than 420 exhibitors from 46 countries.
The number of Austrian visitors to Dubai hotels recorded an increase of 146 per cent during 2004. A total of 16, 122 Austrian visitors stayed in Dubai's hotels during January-September 2005.
The DTCM's promotion at the Finnish International Travel and Tourism Fair Exhibitions (Matka 2006)from January 19-22 in Finland gave Dubai a great deal of exposure in one of it key source markets.
It is one of the biggest events in the travel and trade industry in the Nordic countries in terms of visitor numbers, and in gathering travel and trade professionals. This is the 16th year of DTCM's participation in the event.
The Dubai stand measuring 24 sq mts was supported by four co-participants from Alpha Tours, Arabian Explorers, Emirates and Knight Tours.
The number of Finnish tourists to Dubai increased by 36 per cent in 2004 while the period from January to September 2005 saw 8,984 Finnish tourists coming to Dubai.
Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions said : "DTCM is continuing to showcase Dubai and its myriad attractions to sustain its current growth potential. Both Austria and Finland are very important markets for us since a large number of tourists from these countries come to Dubai. There are also a large number of Austrian and Finnish companies in Dubai who are making their presence felt."
